In Brazil, human thermal discomfort and high indoor temperatures can be observed in crowded spaces characterized by significant sources of heat, such as school cafeteria. Besides, Brazilians edifications were not normally built aimed its energy efficiency, therefore, their performance can be upgraded aiming the electric energy consumption rationing to air conditioning. The authors aimed at analyzing exhaust and air conditioner systems that under RTQ-C/2013 energy efficiency criteria are able to provide human thermal comfort in the school cafeteria of CEFETMG (Belo Horizonte, Brazil). Were analyzed three systems through EnergyPlus thermal simulation: eolic exhaust fan, VRF and Split. Eolic Exhaust Fan was not able to provide thermal comfort according to ASHRAE 55/2010, 80% acceptability range. In a financial perspective, Split system was a better option than VRF, even though its bigger energy consumption. In summary, this paper offers, an efficiency and financially viable, conditioning solution that provide human thermal comfort conditions for a student cafeteria.
