This study is motivated by the proposal of Projeteee Prize for Bioclimatic Architecture focusing on the context of the daylight analysis of lateral window systems. The propose is to fill the gap about a replication of a residential unit model in different cities. The main objective was to analyze the daylight autonomy according to the RTQ-R requirements and to evaluate the impact on daylight admission under conditions of adaptation the same model for two cities in order to direct and assist designers. The work analyzed the daylight autonomy in living and bedroom of a single-story residential unit developed to meet the Minha Casa Minha Vida Brazilian program for the cities of Curitiba and Goiânia, in the context of the award. Four distinct side window systems, including a light shelf, and three eaves typologies were determined resulting in 84 evaluation models. The Daysim 3.1b software was used for the computational simulation and climate files of the INMET database. The results showed that meeting the minimum municipal regulatory parameters was enough to attend the RTQR. However, identical residential models showed different results between cities. The models developed with eaves and lightshelf in the city of Curitiba led to the reduction of the percentage of daylight autonomy while the same models for the city of Goiânia did not present significant alteration of performance. The conclusions present analyzes for the design of daylighting systems for the two cities and warn about the procedure of repeating design solutions without measuring the effectiveness of the daylight performance of each system designed for each locality.
