Abstract

The heat load generated by cooling system's capacity settings plays an important role in electricity consumption. Thus, the numerical methods for its definition are crucial for HVAC system design. The present study aims at investigating the cooling power variability of residential buildings through different algorithm combinations available in the E + library used for internal / external convection calculation and the energy balance. ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis test were carried out to verify significant differences in simulation results. Through the statistical analyses, it can be concluded that there is at least one significant difference between the organized groups. The PostHoc addition test was also performed to assess which groups differed most. Therefore, the numerical method choice can significantly influence the artificial air conditioning systems definition in buildings. Thus, as a contribution, the present work sought to pointed out the choice weight of different algorithms combinations in cooling thermal load estimation as a way to assist the decision-making process on simulation inputs settings.
