Facilities management (FM) consists of a series of management processes and activities that aim to ensure the functionality of the building through the integration of people, equipment, services and technology. Buildings and it’s operation have become more complex. Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology presents itself as a potential facilitator for facilities management as it consists, in part, of the elaboration of a virtual 3D model of the building with a series of information of interest to the owner and the building manager. However, despite the great potential, little has evolved with BIM applications for this subject. This article presents a systematic review of the literature that addresses the use of BIM in facility management, to identify and measure what has been produced globally and what are the main gaps in the theme. The methodology used is based on a Systematic Mapping of literature, collecting information from two Databases. The objective of this paper is to contribute with an overview of BIM application for FM, to identify the main research and publication places about the subject and to facilitate the decision making of future research and practices.
