Abstract

The construction industry has been investing in technological tools, such as Virtual Reality (VR), to facilitate the analysis and comprehension of architectural projects. The use of advanced tools to visualize designed spaces is not limited to design professionals but also proves to be a powerful learning tool for students. This study aims to analyze the potential application of VR tools and immersive simulations in the design and development process of architectural proposals. The applied methodology consisted of a Pre-Project Evaluation conducted with third-year students, where project proposals were developed for the spaces comprising the program requirements of a Cultural, Leisure, and Sports Center. The development of two to four project proposals for each environment was stipulated to encourage discussion based on the analysis of circulation, layout, dimensions, and lighting. The results indicated that immersive simulations significantly contributed to the discussion of the different projects. The students considered VR to be a tool of substantial contribution to the advancement of the projects. The contribution of this study lies in its ability to enhance students' communication, understanding, and evaluation of spatial aspects in architectural projects.
