Abstract

Despite the economic importance of civil construction, high production costs and low productivity are still common. Companies introduce the philosophy of Lean Construction – LC aiming to reduce losses in the production process, costs and time. Among the principles of LC, transparency of processes helps to reduce the occurrence of errors and supports the formulation of improvements. The objective of the research is to identify best practices and develop tools of visual management – VM of the construction site. The unit of analysis is a multifamily building, with 58 apartments. The theoretical framework of LC and participant observation at the construction site are used. Among the main benefits verified with the implementation of VM, we highlight the increase in construction control at the strategic and tactical level of the company and workers´ increase in the integration and awareness at the operational level in the construction site relation to the finished and ongoing services, facilitating payment for services due to the transparency of the process, visible to everyone involved at the construction site.
