Daylighting has benefits that go far beyond energy issues for high-performance buildings, mainly demonstrating its importance in making service environments healthier and more productive. Currently, many simulation tools for luminous performance analysis have been developed to assist in making design decisions. The Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies stands out as a promising tool for studies of energy efficiency in buildings that addresses sustainability and building performance. This article aims to investigate the use of the Insight Lighting Analysis plug-in (version 4.1) with a focus on analyzing two Brazilian regulations: NBR 15575 and INIC-C. For the analyses, a classroom was used, adapted according to its real location in the city of Pelotas -RS. The results demonstrate the plug-in's fragility in performing static simulations according to the schedules established by the NBR 15,575 standard; while for dynamic analysis the tools present the results with the criteria validated only for LEED v4 certification, in addition to the impossibility of verifying the annual illuminance as required by INI-C. Therefore, it is necessary to use a specific software for daylight simulation in order to obtain accurate results.
