Abstract

ABSTRACT: The water conservation has been considered a requirement to be met by new buildings in order to minimize the unruly and irresponsible use of drinking water. The use of equipment that can be operated with a smaller amount of water supply is one of the solutions adopted to reduce water consumption in new buildings. In addition to water conservation, these equipments also contribute to the reduction of the sewage volume. When specifying or installing low discharge volume equipment, which operates with different characteristics compared to conventional full discharge equipment, it is necessary that the drainage sewerage system must be compatible with its mode of operation. Thus, this paper presents a study about de sewage flow in plumbing designed drainage systems, simulating the insertion of toilets with discharge of 4.5 liters. To this end, a literature review was carried out regarding the design project criteria for sizing the building sewerage drainage network, and a verification of plumbing projects, in environments that had toilets, was performed. Most ground floors presented the greatest possibility of obstruction when simulating the use of the 4,5 L toilet discharge. The same happened less often for other types of floors. The results emphasize the need to design each sewerage from each sanitary environment in a unique way and with previous study, in order to have an efficient sewage system and still contribute to water conservation.
