UMA PROPOSTA AINDA ATUAL DE UMA GERAÇÃO PASSADA - REFLEXÕES SOBRE O MORAR NO CENTRO A PARTIR DA ERGONOMIA COMO EIXO DE ANÁLISE
Keywords:

The Copan Building is considered an icon of the modernist architecture of São Paulo city and Brazil, in which different strategies were used to achieve environmental comfort, in addition to being designed with an irrefutable attention to the relation between the building and the city. Taking these characteristics into account, this research had the objective of evaluating the building performance, using ergonomics as reference, analyzing how the current Brazilian way of living still applies to cases like the Niemeyer’s project. In order to pursue such objectives, historical aspects were researched, and then, visits to some of the building’s units, where measurements, photographies and surveys to the users were done. Furthermore, task analyses were conducted and all information of each unit was compiled in summary sheets. Two of the four analyzed units are going to be presented in this article and the reason is that they have very distinct ways of approaching ergonomics and different types of living, in which one had custom made furniture, making better use of the minimal space of a kitchenette, and the other had antique and ready-made furniture, making the unit very conflicting ergonomically. In conclusion, the Copan Building presents qualities that are increasingly rare in the contemporary housing market, being still much sought as a place to live, showing itself still current in its relationship with the city and with the environmental comfort.
