Planning and managing cities has been a great challenge for public managers, mainly due to the problems and demands related to areas such as safety, health, and basic sanitation. An initiative that aims to help mitigate these problems is the concept of Smart Cities, which uses ICTs as agents of transformation in the urban environment. One of the tools used by Smart Cities is the urban indicators, which serve as a basis for measuring, analyzing and understanding the context of cities. In this sense, the objective of this article is to analyze the urban indicators of Environment of the city of Passo Fundo. In the methodology, the Connected Smart Cities Ranking indicators were used as a reference, as well as a regional cut of the medium-sized cities best classified in the Ranking. Multimedia procedures for data collection and survey were applied and, finally, a critical analysis was developed. The results
demonstrate that the Passo Fundo indices, with respect to the Environment indicators, are lower than those of the cities analyzed, and are far from the levels considered ideal to become a more intelligent and sustainable city.
